Description
After the demise of her husband, Nwanyi abacha took hold of her two children (Ugochi and Odinaka) and ran to a new location to escape the torments of her late husband’s relatives who were gunning for his properties. To survive, she commences the business of abacha – a native delicacy made from cassava – to fend for herself and children. As the business progresses, her diabetic ailment heightens because she has been using most of the sales’ money to offset their debts without going for treatment. At her death and hurried burial due to lack of fund for mortuary and proper burial, her daughter (Ugochi) decides to stay back at the village with her brother in the care of their sole maternal uncle who is wallowing in abject poverty. On learning this, Emeka (their mother’s favourite customer) encourages her to return to the city with her brother and continue the mother’s business. But can she possibly run the business like her mother especially as there is another young man at the corner with all promises to give her a good life if she beds him?
